Our love for Ardèche
We are Corinne and Fabrice, a couple not too far from retirement.
For many years, our family has made a habit of regularly spending our holidays in this magnificent region located at the crossroads of Provence and southern Ardèche.
Over the course of these stays, we literally succumbed to the charm of southern Ardèche: its mild Mediterranean climate, the richness of its local gastronomy, the wild beauty of its landscapes, and above all the warm and authentic welcome of its inhabitants. Gradually, the idea of acquiring a house here to fully enjoy our retirement became an obvious choice for us.
A meticulous and passionate search
As true enthusiasts, we approached this search with method, seriousness, and patience. Aware of the stakes, we started this project early enough to take all the time needed to find the ideal house, the one that would meet all our criteria:
- A spacious and welcoming house, with enough room for our future grandchildren and loved ones to visit us regularly.
- Attractive amenities such as a private, secure pool, a large garden, and outdoor areas to fully enjoy beautiful sunny days.
- An ideal location, secluded to enjoy absolute calm while remaining close to lively villages to maintain an active and enjoyable social life.
For several months, we scrupulously examined every relevant real estate listing, each one carefully logged in a detailed comparison table. Each on-site visit (usually 5 to 6 houses per trip) brought us gradually closer to our goal.
A shared instant crush
During one of these visits, we were accompanied by our two sons. No sooner had we left this house than all four of us were already certain we had found the rare gem – a true shared favorite. A second in-depth visit, followed by a rigorous check of all the technical aspects, definitively confirmed our choice.
And so we acquired what we consider the ideal house for our future retirement. Right after the purchase, we undertook a series of renovations and improvements to fully adapt the house to our tastes and comfort requirements.
Why offer it as a rental?
While waiting for our retirement, and knowing that a house that is lived in regularly stays in better condition, we decided to offer Les Charmes de l’Ardèche as a seasonal rental. Besides allowing the house to be regularly occupied and maintained, this also helps to finance its operating costs.
We hope that every family or group of friends who stays here will feel the same pleasure, comfort, and serenity that immediately charmed us during our first visit.
